Purpose
CAHI's Counseling Assistance Program provides a full range of comprehensive services, advice and assists low and very-low income consumers in improving their housing conditions and meeting the responsibilities of homeownership.
Eligibility
All low and very-low income individuals that apply for CAHI's self-help homebuilder's program are elgibile under our Credit Counseling Assistance Program on a no fee basis.
 

 


Credit Counseling Program

Nevada ranks next to last in average credit scores.    A good understanding of credit management is essential in the preparation for homeownership.    Providing credit counseling and financial education will promote homeownership and self-sufficiency, strengthening families, neighborhoods and communities.

Strategies
  • To counsel families on financial and debt management matters to overcome credit issues.
  • To assist prospective homeowners to develop a total awareness of the economic and personal investment in homeownership and to learn the necessary skills for the protection of such an investment.
  • To assist low and very-low income housing consumers who have become delinquent due to economic or other factors beyond their control to reinstate their mortgage or rental account.
  • To assist housing consumers in the maintenance, repair and rehabilitation of housing.
  • To provide post-occupancy counseling to CAHI homebuilders on a quarterly basis for one year.
  • To provide consumer education on avoiding identity theft and predatory lending practices.
